What is ATS panel? The ATS panel automatically manages the connection assignment of the load to utility power or generator.

As a result, an ATS panel (Automatic Transfer Switch panel) is the ideal choice in cases where you have to control a GENERATOR that is connected to the UTILITY POWER in a standby configuration.
In other words an ATS PANEL is normally waiting for a failure of the Utility Power. All functions are normally scheduled by the ATS controller included in the ATS panel. A basic ATS pnel offers a MANUAL and AUTOMATIC mode of operation.

THE CONECT ATS PANEL

The CONECT ATS panel is mainly designed for a portable generator. Fistly, the CONECT ATS panel includes the basic functions of a Mains Failure panel. Secondly, it activate an output committed to drive the auto start module of you generator (example PRAMAC PMD5000 or HYUNDAI DYH6000).
Thirdly and most important, the CONECT ATS panel features a MANUAL CHANGEOVER SWITCH that OVERRIDES the internal automatic changeover. This is particularly useful in an extreme case of a total panel crash. By switching the CHANGEOVER SWITCH to BYPASS, you directly connect the load to utility power.

WHAT IS BACKFEEDING

 

We have to clarify some issues about generators, loads and mains: standby applications or parallel applications. In a standby application the generator will never be connected to the grid.
In parallel application the generator may be connected to the grid. Normally, you cannot legally bring an AC generator onto the grid unless some technical & legal conditions are met.
To connect a generator to the grid, the sine wave must be in phase with the grid, frequency must be the same and other requirements have to be strictly satisfied.
This is accomplished by using special & complex controllers (regulators & synchronizers). Last but definitely not least the system must pass special inspections. More frequent is the use of the generator for standby application by using standby generator or small backup generator.
A standby generator is a permanently installed apparatus, much like a compressor.
A backup generator is a small, sometime gasoline portable, generator that you put in position outside the house, for example, and then plug into the control panel.
Or it can be connected to electrical loads via heavy-duty extension cords. Back-feeding is a dangerous situation in which, electricity from your generator flows back through your electrical panel  into the utility company's electrical system. Back-feeding can occur when a generator is connected to your home wiring system without disconnecting from the utility power.

BACK-FEEDING is the major risk in case you want to connect a generator to your electrical system
